“A treasure” 4* Evening Standard
“Pretty extraordinary” 4* Timeout
“Menacing but also melancholic” 4* Guardian Music
‘The Big Dream’, the sophomore album from David Lynch, is one of the year’s most acclaimed albums, with everyone from NME and Time Out to Evening Standard and Loud and Quiet lauding its striking singularity and extraordinary breadth of vision.
Now, just before the year is out, Lynch is unveiling a gloriously deluxe version of the record. So in addition to repackaging the album in all its beautiful, crepuscular glory, there is another CD complete with two previously unreleased tracks, ‘And Light Shines’ and the harrowing ‘Bad The John Boy’, conceived during the recording of ‘The Big Dream’ which are available to hear now.
There are also remixes of album tracks by the likes of Hot Since 82, Bastille, Bjorn Yttling and Venetian Snares, who twist the title track into something far from your typical dance remix. Lynch‘s producer, Dean Hurley, describes this track as ‘music for the end crawl of a bootlegged sci-fi/horror film that you borrowed from your friend’s older brother and caused you to realise for the first time that you were actually scared in broad daylight.’
The deluxe edition of ‘The Big Dream‘ is available digitally now. The Super Deluxe box set – of which there will only be 500 produced worldwide – will be released on January 27th 2014.
