East London DJ and producer Kristy Harper releases her new single Acid Queen and announces her latest EP 18:04 on Silver Bear Recordings. Following blissful single ‘U’, the EP will be available to listen to on the 24th January – a pulsating electro filled journey beautifully capturing the sensations of desire and adoration across its 14 minute and 39 seconds run time.
Aptly titled after the train Kristy met her partner on, 18:04 “is about the beauty of spontaneity, and the magic that can unfold when two souls meet by chance”. The journey begins with lead single ‘U’, an intense rush of electro tinged house paired with the repeated lyric “I don’t feel like giving myself to anyone but you” over dreamy pads and synths.
The euphoria continues and It’s Kristy’s short but impactful lyrics which take centre stage, as is evident with the following track Acid Queen. “I want to be your…Queen” is emphasised across a dance heavy bassline and pillowy keys.
As her eclectic DJ sets would testify, Kristy is no stranger to mixing things up. This is certainly the case as 18:04 concludes with acid house spectacle ‘Silver’. A moving tribute to the genre itself, ‘Silver’ takes it up through the gears and is sure to be gracing the dancefloors of Berlin soon.
Kristy Harper has been making a name for herself within the underground dance scene for a decade. From sets at Oslo to Fabric, residencies at XOYO and takeovers at clubs across Europe, Kristy constantly mixes it up demonstrating her broad musical pallet by playing everything from soul, disco and house to acid, garage and techno.
Her wide-ranging style lends itself into the music she makes and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. From Italo dancefloor gem ‘77’ to the empowering ‘My Body. My Future’, Kristy’s music has gained support across the circuit; with plays on Radio 1 and Rinse FM and praise from dance powerhouses such The Blessed Madonna and Hot Since 82.
18:04 is Kristy on top form and a reminder that “sometimes the unexpected encounters are the ones that leave an eternal imprint”.
