South London’s rising DJ/Producer talent Jasper Tygner returns with his sophomore EP for the coveted Silver Bear Recordings, four fresh cuts geared for pre-night listening and peak time club-ordnance alike.
“Blush” is the conceptual prequel to Tygner’s debut EP, “Eyes Open” which dropped last summer on the imprint. This two-part series recreates the sonic and emotive nuances of a night out. Whilst “Eyes Open” was inspired by the afterhours of a rave, “Blush” recreates the euphoric anticipation of the preliminary stages of travelling to and being in the club. Conceived in the early hours of cold December mornings in 2021, “Blush” stemmed from Tygner finding cinematic visuals online showing strangers travelling to parties.
Title track “Blush” superbly displays Jasper’s ability to make melodies rise and fall with sublime effect, combining sampled breakbeats layered with UK garage drumwork. “Tape” is an emotive and razor sharp slice of breaks-layered weaponry which will undoubtedly come to life on a well-tuned club system. The swinging percussion on “Well I” shows Tygner’s cinematic use of pads and drifting melodies cement this body of work as something to be enjoyed on dancefloors and pre-parties alike. Growing up performing in Jazz and classical orchestras lends an undeniably lifelike character to Tygner’s sound, and his skills of layering and creating ambience shine through his productions. Combining four to the floor elements with club-inspired melodies, outro track “The Last” features drums sounds inspired by Berlin techno and shows yet another side to Tygner’s versatile production talent.
