Today we welcome the debut single ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Kitty Liv, better known as one third of the successful and acclaimed family band, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis.
Developing her ideas over several years, Kitty has been working on songs which mark a completely different direction for her. As a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Kitty is resonating with a more expansive set of her influences, from Erykah Badu and D’Angelo to Al Green and blues legend Howlin’ Wolf, to produce a body of personal songs that evoke the primal depths of Soul, Gospel blues & Rock and Roll.
These influences and change in direction are exemplified on her first debut single, ‘Sweet Dreams’. The song is a laid-back soulful number, with a confident and tender vocal on a song about using intimacy as a distraction from life’s anxieties.
‘Sweet Dreams’ seamlessly blends nostalgia of the past with a modern, fresh approach and acts as the perfect introduction to Kitty’s solo work. With a clear talent for writing fierce and bold, charming and heartfelt catchy neo soul-pop song, the single is a taster of what’s to come from this incredibly talented songwriter and exceptional performer.
Co-produced with her brother and analogue guru Lewis Durham, ‘Sweet Dreams’ was recorded live on sparkling analogue equipment at KDL’s analogue studio at Kentish Town, North London.
