Track A’ Lackin’ is the third single from Xylaroo’s debut album Sweetooth — Out now. A slightly darker turn, Track A’ Lackin’ explores life, death & the devil;
“We wrote “Track a’ lackin’” on our balcony in Colombo during a power cut, a very common occurrence in Sri Lanka which looks out onto surrounding paddy fields and jungle. The song is inspired by the blues folk tale of meeting the devil at across roads but instead it centers around a railway track. The train could be seen as death as it approaches; the tracks symbolising time. The Devil is mocking the waiting passenger. It is about the fear of growing old, not having made enough of your life and being alone in the end. Track a’ lackin’ is the sound of life rolling on with or without you much like a train does.”
B-side is a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s disco epic I Will Survive.
