London-based producers Wayward announce their new single ‘Ridge Road’ released today via Silver Bear Recordings.
Louis Greenwood and Lawrence Hayes have gained some serious steam in recent years. They’ve co-crafted cuts for artists across a spectrum of genres; from studio sessions with Grammy-winning creative giant Skrillex, to Ninja Tune’s Park Hye Jin, and alt-indie enigma Chelou. firmly establishing themselves as broad respected producers in the process. Previous releases have come through Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin Records, Australian-based Beats Of No Nation and and, of course, Silver Bear who’s vast catalogue is the work of the discerning duo as they took the A&R helm back in 2017. Wayward’s consistently impressive output has generated over 12 million streams across their catalogue.
‘Ridge road’ follows their previous single ‘Back To The Old Days’, which received support from Boiler Room, Tom Ravenscroft and Jaguar to name a few, and further confirms Wayward’s ability to conjure up melancholic, transportive sounds. In production for over 2 years, the track features uplifting piano motifs, driving breakbeat drums and spacey synths.
Discussing the new single, the duo say: “We decided to name the tune Ridge Road, after the house that our best mate grew up in and where we had loads of good times. It kinda reminds us of being 18 again, getting the night bus back to his house post-rave to blare tunes and try and keep the party alive.”
